Ancillary services are required to maintain power system security and reliability, facilitate orderly trading in electricity and ensure that electricity supplies are of acceptable quality.
The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is required to prepare a report setting out its ancillary services requirements and plan each year. Since 1 July 2016, the ERA has been responsible for auditing and approving requirements and plan. The ERA’s determination reports are set out below.
