The ERA is required to review the market rules about incentives to improve the availability of generators in the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM). This review will determine whether these market rules are operating appropriately or should be changed to better meet the WEM objectives. The market rules also require the ERA to progress any recommendations from the reviews as a rule change proposal.

The ERA published a draft report on 2 October 2020 to seek feedback from market participants and interested parties on this review. The consultation period closed on Friday, 13 November 2020. The ERA published a Final Report on 29 December 2020.
