In 2015, the ERA undertook our second annual of the EGRC regulatory scheme. Significantly more information, including trends in retail market share, was available for this review. This enabled us to undertake more detailed analysis than was possible in 2014.
In this review we considered the EGRC scheme framework to assess whether it fully addressed the increased potential for exercising market power. We revisited our recommendations from the 2014 review and considered them in light of how the EGRC scheme operated since the last review.
Our discussion paper was published in November 2015 and received five submissions. Our review report was delivered to the Minister for Energy in October 2016 for tabling in Parliament and published on our website on 21 October 2016.
