The ERA has completed its review of the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) Procedure Portfolio Determination according to the Procedure Change Process specified in the WEM Rules (chapter 2.10). This WEM Procedure outlines how the ERA will assess and determine Portfolios, Material Portfolios and Constrained Material Portfolios under the WEM Rules.
On 9 August 2024, Energy Policy WA published an Exposure Draft of WEM Amending Rules (FCESS Cost Review Amendments).
On 13 September 2024, the ERA released the draft Portfolio Determination WEM Procedure with a Procedure Change Proposal, detailing ERA’s proposed changes to the WEM Procedure and the rationale behind them. The ERA sought feedback by 14 October 2024. The ERA received three submissions.
On 29 October 2024, the Minister for Energy gazetted Amending Rules under the WEM Amendment (FCESS Cost Review) Rules 2024.
On 27 November 2024, the ERA published a Procedure Change Report and final Portfolio Determination WEM Procedure.
The Portfolio Determination WEM Procedure (version 2) will take effect from 27 November 2024 and is also published on the WEM Procedures webpage.
