Western Australia's retail gas market has been deregulated since 2004. In the wholesale gas market, participants enter into agreements with gas suppliers and pipeline operators to purchase and transport gas, which they then on-sell and supply to end-users. The retail gas market is administered by the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO). The ERA is responsible for the oversight of the Gas Retail Market Scheme.
Gas Services Information comprises the Gas Bulletin Board and the Gas Statement of Opportunities. AEMO is responsible for information services. The ERA determines AEMO's allowable revenue and forecast capital expenditure in relation to this role.
